About Us
Sound Word Ministry is a group of born-again believers who have spent many years attending charismatic churches, conferences, and a variety of other ministry events. We began to ask ourselves why we, as believers, were placing more value on spiritual experience rather than spiritual discernment. It seemed like the "new revelation" coming from the modern day "apostles" and prophets" was taking precedence over God's written Word. We became alarmed about the fascination with New Age beliefs practices and the mixture with Christianity that we saw invading the church. We have come to see that just as Jesus and many of the apostles told us would happen -- deception has entered the church in many different shapes and forms. But false prophets also arose among the people just as thee will be false teachers among you who will secretly introduce destructive heresies . . . Many will follow their sensuality and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned and in their greed, they will exploit you with false words, then judgment from long ago is not idle, and the destruction is not asleep. II Peter 2:1. But the Spirit explicitly says that in the later times, some will fall away from the faith paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons by means of the hypocrisy of liars. I Timothy 4:1-2 The purpose of our ministry is not to malign or attack any person or ministry. However, we are commanded to judge the things that are being spoken and taught by prophets and teachers (I Cor. 14:29) especially to see if they are scriptural. The Apostle Paul preached about love and unity yet did not hesitate to point out and name those who were false teachers who had gone astray (II Timothy 1:15, 2:17-18, 3:8, 4:14). Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them. Romans 16:17-18 Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them; for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret. Ephesians 5:11-12 We began to see that what we were discerning in our local churches was a part of a broader picture of a vast international network, comprised of thousands of Christian churches and ministries with the same vision and agenda--to transform society and take dominion over the earth. The name of the organization is the New Apostolic Reformation. Our first booklet is entltled, Beware of the Apostolic Reformation. It is a very brief history and description of the movement. We also put our testimonies together in a booklet entitled, Narrow is the Way--Have you REALLY Found It? available at "STORE" on this website and also available on Amazon. Our latest publication is a book entitled A Hidden Path -- Bethel Redding and Beyond available on Amazon. It will leave you with vital questions to help you discern the beliefs and practices of Bethel Church, the New Apostolic Reformation and beyond. Our resources are one of the ways that we are bringing awareness to those who have ears to hear. We pray that these materials will be powerful tools for those who want to learn more and share with others about The New Apostolic Reformation and other deception in the church today. SOUND WORD MINISTRY is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation. We have a vision to spread the truth about church deception by putting our publications into the hands of those who need to hear. If you would like to join us in this effort, consider donating to our ministry. All donations are tax deductible. Maybe you have some questions about NAR. If so, please don't hesitate to write to us at; [email protected]. Or maybe you have left the movement and are struggling with emotional distress in some way, or just want to speak with like-minded brothers and sisters who care and have a listening ear. We would like to be helpful to you in any way that we can. Also if you have benefitted by reading our materials, we would love to hear from you. |
About the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR)
Founded by Dr. C. Pete Wagner, it is made up of thousands of networks of churches and ministries across the world that share core beliefs and a common agenda. "Apostles" and "prophets" lead the movement with on-going "new" revelation that they believe is needed to fulfill their God-given mandate to establish a physical Kingdom of God on earth. Believers of this movement teach that God has given the church a mandate, under the leadership of their apostles and prophets, to (1) bring the Kingdom of Heaven down to earth, (2) establish a one, unified, global church that will transform society and (3) take dominion over the world. Restoration of Apostles and Prophets The NAR teaches that God is restoring the office of the apostle who will hold the highest position of government in the church. They also teach that ALL believers, local churches, and each city must submit to an "apostle" who will rule over their designated region and that only through these "apostles" will the church have the ability to fulfill its destiny. They also believe that God is restoring the office of the prophet in the church -- yet their leaders confess that the words of their "prophets" are not 100% accurate. In fact, many of the "prophesies" given prove to be false and/or vague, and do not line up with the Word of God. New Age Emphasis They strongly emphasize the importance of experiences with angels, demons, visions, hidden/esoteric knowledge, traveling through portals and gates into the Third Heaven, telepathy, contemplative prayer, quantum mysticism, quantum spirituality, daily trips to heaven, plus "extra-Biblical" revelation. Schools are offered to train people how to prophesy, have visions and trances, and do (astral) soul-travel through dimensions. They are taught that "extra-Biblical" revelation is necessary to know the "new" things that God is doing today. They believe that the New Agers stole information and practices that we, as Christians, need to get back. Manifestation of the Sons of God The most radical belief connected with the New Apostolic Reformation is the "Manifestation of the Sons of God" doctrine. Some prophesy that there will be a second Pentecost when God will manifest Himself through the many-membered body and give them more supernatural power than the believers experienced in the early church. Some also believe that they will continue to receive more and more of God's power until they become "manifest" as sons of God, a "new breed" (also known as Joel's Army); one in nature and in essence with Christ, so much so that they will have the ability to defeat death itself (immortalization) BEFORE the return of Christ. Word of Faith (WOF) The Word of Faith is equally as deceptive and equally as dark as the NAR. Many people in the New Apostolic Reformation have adopted and teach the doctrines of the Word of Faith. It got its momentum in the United States through such men as Phineas Quimby, E. W. Kenyon, Kenneth Hagin, and Kenneth Copeland. The people in this movement believe that our faith is a force, and our words are carriers of that force. They believe that one has so much power in them that they can literally create reality by speaking it. They also believe in such things as decreeing and declaring and the Law of Attraction -- if you think or speak positive thoughts, positive things will happen to you. They believe the same is true about the negative. This is only a very brief overview of the beliefs and agenda of the New Apostolic Reformation. We are so glad that you visited our page.
